The crystal-clear Guadalupe River winds through Kerrville like a blue ribbon, offering countless opportunities for recreation. During summer months, visitors and locals alike flock to its refreshing waters for:

  • Kayaking and Canoeing: Paddle through calm stretches and gentle rapids while spotting wildlife along the cypress-lined banks. Take advantage of one of Kerrville’s newest river recreation partners, GlowRow, for a lighted and guided night time tour of the river!

Couldn’t pack your board? Not to worry! Kerrville Kayak & Canoe has you covered on rentals for your river recreation needs from paddleboards, kayaks, and canoes.
  • Fishing: Cast a line for bass, catfish, and the prized Guadalupe bass (Texas' state fish)! Some popular and free public access fishing spots include Louise Hays Park, Flat Rock Park, and Hunt Crossing in West Kerr County.
  • River Photography: Capture the stunning limestone cliffs, murmuring creeks, and abundant wildlife along the Guadalupe's scenic shores.

For the perfect river experience, visit Kerrville-Schreiner Park where river access combines with hiking trails, camping facilities, and picnic areas for a complete outdoor day.

  • Early Bird Advantage: Start your outdoor adventures before 10am to enjoy cooler temperatures and increased wildlife activity.
  • Hydration Stations: Bring plenty of water for any outdoor activity; portable water filters work great for longer river trips.

  • Shade Seekers: Explore the many tree-covered trails in Kerrville-Schreiner Park during midday.
